Cohort Guarding is a cost effective service utilised by medical wards to assist them in keeping staff , visitors and patients safe.
This role is an adaption of Bed-watch Support were instead of 1-1 assistance given to a patient the cohort guard assists medical staff maintaining safety within an area of multiple patients in one ward for example if the patients had dementia and the hospital were worried about infection control.
This means medical staff can go about their work in a safe manner without the worry of patients being left unattended, leaving the cohort guard looking after the area making sure that all acute patients are watched together in a safe environment.
Cohort guards are specially trained and have a caring background to help assist clinical staff with their duties. It also allows medical staff to have the freedom of moving between there areas of work without having to worry about patients being left unattended.
